Time for the annual "Autumn on the Pokey" trip.

This is the KCS' bridge over the Mississippi at Vicksburg; I've tried unsuccessfully many times to catch an Eastbound train coming into the morning light from this vantage point and finally got lucky. Even though it had UP leader, it's still not a bad shot.

Dalton, Georgia is a train-watching "hot-spot" I've heard of but never visited until I decided spur-of-the-moment to just check it out. The photo angles are really only "OK" at best, but the restored Southern freight depot is a comfortable spot to hang out and the traffic levels on both railroads keep things busy. I'm definitely returning soon!

A Surprise at Rocks! I was sitting in my Jeep "jawing" on the phone when something different appeared around the corner coming off the Old Main -- K111 ore train lead by three Wheeling & Lake Erie units!

That orange pilot sure is bright in the afternoon Sun!

scenic Pulaski District

I stopped by to check out a familiar spot just West of the Kessler bridge anticipating a Westbound ethanol train. I was intent on getting the detail of the last car when I panned right and caught a surprise in the viewfinder!

Yep, that's an Eastbound W&LE ore train;
something quite rare in these parts!
