The town sat on the mainline of the Fort Worth & Denver (a BN subsidiary) and was served by a MKT (Katy) branch. Of course both companies are now gone. At that time several other "soon to be gone" regional roads still operated including the Rock Island, Mopac, and Frisco. Even though we could get our fill of mainline action on the FW&D (BN), we developed quite an affinity for the Katy, Frisco, and Rock Island. Looking back, I wish we had covered more of these roads, had taken more pictures, and had been better photographers.
