My buddy Howard and I joined Nathan and his dad and cousin at the Elkhorn Inn for a leisurly weekend. On the way, we scouted a future railfanning location – at the bottom of the New River Gorge.

Then on to the Pokey for the last light of the day at Farm, WV.

5:24pm
5:43pm

While at Farm we saw our first Heritage unit of the weekend, the Norfolk Southern unit in helper service. 6:17pm

The next morning we slept late, Nathan and his bunch left then I stuck my head out on the railfan balcony when I heard a horn and a chase ensued for this. These shots are behind the Wal-Mart in Welch, after it passed we tried to race it on to Farm but it was too far ahead.

At Farm I did shoot this guy next to the coaling tower.

Then back to the Inn for the typical balcony shots of Eastbounds heading up the grade to the Elkhorn Tunnel.

12:56pm
And yes, Dan (owner of the Inn) agrees that the trees just have to go!
