Day 1
Howard and I drove from the metropolis of Ireland, WV to North Carolina, basically just "making time" but we did stop for one view.

We drove from Bill's house in Mebane, NC to Point South, South Carolina, following the railroad as closely as we could along the way.

Ten hours on the platform... In my chronicle below, I tried to catch at least one shot of everything that passed us that day. I missed the first two of the morning and was away for at least one more so the actual count was higher.

We went to the platform for a short time but the only moves we caught were from the overpass where the lines converge. That's cool! Now let's head for home...

Day 6
Back in North Carolina we said goodbye to Bill and Howard and I headed East for some more railfanning.

Southbound Carolinian, only about 45 minutes late!

Southbound Palmetto only about 10 minutes late -- a temporary schedule change put it after the Carolinian.

Daily bolt replacement on the diamond...
In the yard at Selma, a 158-car freight is tied down on the main waiting a crew while the local has just arrived from Goldsboro on the pass track.

Day 7
A lovely, overcast day. We stayed around Selma for most of the day, watching trains like this northbound abuse the diamond.
